Pupil Premium Funding

Please read the information below which gives details of our Pupil Premium Grant and how we allocate the funding.

Background
The pupil premium grant is funding provided to schools to help all pupils reach their full potential, regardless of their background or financial situation. The Pupil Premium is allocated to schools based on the numbers of children who are registered for free school meals, have been registered for free school meals at any point in the last six years, are, or have been, in care or have parents in the armed forces

The intended effect of this funding is to accelerate progress and raise attainment. Ofsted school inspections report on the attainment and progress of disadvantaged pupils who attract the pupil premium.

Schools are free to spend the Pupil Premium as they see fit. However, we will be held accountable for how we have used the additional funding to support pupils from low-income families. Since September 2012, we have been required to publish online information about how we have used the Premium. This will ensure that parents and others are made fully aware of the attainment of pupils covered by the Premium and the extra support that they receive.

When deciding the most effective strategies to use, we consider alongside own professional knowledge and understanding of the children, advice from outside agencies together with findings and recommendations from recent research, including those from the Education Endowment Foundation.

We carefully track each child’s progress and, through termly ‘Pupil Progress Meetings’, monitor the impact and effectiveness of the strategies employed and thus the expenditure of the funding we receive.

Please read our strategy for pupil premium expenditure below. For advice on whether you may be eligible please see the parent information leaflet below.
